Patient Information

At Castle Street Dental Practice we are committed to providing the highest possible standard of care for our patients.  An important part of fulfilling this commitment is ensuring that we work in partnership with you.  This helps us understand you and tend to your specific needs.

Below, we describe some of our responsibilities to you and your part in your care.

Appointment times

We provide a range of appointment times for patients including early morning Monday to Friday.  The practice also offer late evening appointments.  If you need to cancel your appointment, please give us as much notice as possible to allow us to allocate your appointment time to another patient.

If two consecutive appointments are missed or you regularly miss or cancel your appointments you will be asked to find an alternative dentist at another dental practice.

You can express a preference about which dentist you would like to see. We will make all reasonable efforts to ensure that the request is met, but this may not always be possible. Should you wish to express a preference of practitioner, please state who you would like to be seen by when booking your appointment.

Treatment Plans

Your dentist can provide a full range of treatment for you.

After a thorough clinical examination, your dentist will describe the treatment that he or she recommends, an estimate of its cost and any alternatives that are available.  Any relevant risks will be discussed.  Where appropriate, the dentist will use photographs and other visual aids to help explain the treatment.  Please do not hesitate to ask questions – we want to be sure that you fully understand and agree with the proposed treatment.  The dentist can give you some information to take home, if you are unsure of any aspect of the treatment.

Most treatment is usually necessary to remove disease.  To maintain oral health you need to follow the advice your dentist or hygienist may give you relating to your treatment.  Home care plays a major role in preventing further problems and that in turn will help you keep an attractive smile, eat in full comfort and should minimise the need for future treatment.  If you do not understand your part in your care, please ask for an explanation.

We would strongly encourage our patients to attend regularly in order to achieve or maintain good oral health. We will undertake a Dental Care Assessment during your first appointment in order to ascertain and agree your treatment needs.

Preventive care

The basis of good oral health is preventing dental disease by, for example, appropriate oral hygiene measures, reducing the frequency of consumption of sugary foods and visiting the dentist when recommended. Your dentist and dental hygienist will give you lots of advice and support with caring for your teeth and gums.

Repairs

Our dental practice will carry out denture repairs free of charge but if this doesn’t fall into a category of repair you could be asked to pay. Dental repairs such as fillings will sometimes be done free of charge depending on if you are covered by the payment you have already made.

Paying for your dental care

We provide a range of ways to pay for your dental care. We accept cash and all major credit and debit cards.

Payment is usually made at the start of the treatment, or in stages at every appointment. Where dental implants, crowns, veneers, bridges or dentures are to be provided, we may ask for a deposit in advance. Full payment of this treatment will need to be paid for in advance of the last appointment.

Confidentiality

We take patient confidentiality extremely seriously at Castle Street Dental Practice and all personal information is treated in the strictest confidence.  Only members of staff have access to patient information.  All our patient records are securely stored at our practice to ensure that any patient information is only accessed as part of your treatment.

No information will ever be released to a third party without your expressed permission.  We have strict confidentiality policy.  To see a copy of this policy or if you would like further information regarding your rights to view your patient records please contact the reception staff.

The practice fully complies with The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

We aim to make your experience at the Castle Street Dental Practice as pleasant as possible.  However, should you have any complaints, please contact Drs Ali Jahanfar or Regina Appah on 01495 723021 who will be able to deal with you complaint and talk you through our Complaints Procedure.  Please do not use the comments form to make a complaint.

Emergency treatment

We aim to see patients in severe pain or suffering from prolonged bleeding or swelling on the same day. If you are given an emergency appointment, you may have to wait while the dentist sees his/her routine appointments and it may not be possible to offer you an appointment with your usual dentist.
